Basic X Ray Machine Operator Training
Start a Career in Healthcare and Become a Basic X Ray Machine Operator
There has never been a better time to begin training for a career in healthcare. Training to become a medical assistant with basic xray at Fortis can provide you the education and skills you need to get started on the road to a career.
Doctors use x-rays to produce anatomical images of a patient's body to provide diagnostic information that allows them to diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries or abnormalities. At Fortis, our experienced and dedicated faculty in our Medical Assisting with Basic X-Ray program provide students with comprehensive instruction to prepare them for entry-level employment as a medical assistant with the additional qualifications of basic Xray.
While most employment opportunities are in physicians’ offices or clinics, the graduate of the medical assisting with basic Xray program is qualified to operate radiographic equipment as well as perform medical assisting duties. Delivered in a nurturing learning environment, this program is designed to respond to the dynamic and evolving nature of the healthcare community by emphasizing excellence in patient care, the development of critical thinking skills and of course, the use of safe radiation practices in the operation of the Xray machine.
The FORTIS curriculum prepares students to perform limited numbers and types of X-ray procedures that are typically performed in a doctor's office or walk-in medical clinic along with basic medical assisting skills. The X-ray training includes use of screen/film and digital image receptor systems, procedures used in the darkroom for film processing, formulating X-ray techniques, performance of X-ray procedures, and radiation safety measures. Students learn front desk and medical assisting skills such as taking vital signs and EKG readings, performing exam set up and maintaining electronic health records.
A qualified medical assistant with the additional certification as a basic X-ray machine operator may perform limited general diagnostic radiographic procedures. This position is an important member of the healthcare team and works under the direct supervision and control of a licensed practitioner to provide patient care.
Today’s healthcare system is growing and there is no better time to begin training to join this dynamic industry. Call today to learn more about how to get started in the Fortis Medical Assisting with Basic Xray program.
