Implementation of various methods of exposure control include universal precautions, engineering and work practice controls, personal protective clothing and equipment , housekeeping, vaccinations, training, and documentation. Students understand and assume the risk involved in the clinical portion of Allied Health programs at the Institute, especially the risk of contracting Hepatitis B through human blood spills, Tuberculosis, HIV (AIDS) and other related infectious diseases while participating in the required clinical experiences. All students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program must submit current health form before being allowed participation in clinical assignments, failure to provide written proof of immunizations/titers or a signed waiver, will result in withdrawal from the clinical course, and may result in program dismissal.
