My experience with the ECG/Phlebotomy/Lab Assistant Program at Fortis Institute was wonderful. The instructors & staff were friendly and knowledgeable which made it a very positive experience. The five week class module structure also kept things interesting & challenging. I feel great about my achievement & I’m very excited to finish my program.

My family has actually shown that they are very proud of me, not because I haven’t done things in the past, but so often they missed out on seeing me accomplish those things, so at graduation I had my uncle there, my cousin there, it was to the point where they couldn’t get in because there wasn’t enough room.

Right now I am a medical assistant and I work in an orthopedic and neurology department. I care for patients and I triage them, I see what is wrong with them, I tend to them and just communicate with them well.

The education I received here at Fortis - it helped me, because if I didn’t have this education I couldn’t do my job. Now I am a surgical technologist. I enjoy the family atmosphere, I enjoy interacting with new people every day, I enjoy taking care of my patients, I enjoy meeting and doing interesting things I never would have done if I wouldn’t have chosen to be a surgical technologist.

I wanted to become a medical assistant because I have a special needs son and I was his caregiver, so I wanted to go into the health field to learn more about his needs and be educated in what I can help others do.
