HVAC Technicians Training Requirements
Most employers prefer HVAC technicians who have received technical training or licenses. Their education includes being trained in all three areas – heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. However, most HVAC technicians choose to strictly work on one of the three.
In addition, when working on these systems, HVAC technicians need to follow government regulations regarding conservation, recovery and recycling of refrigerants as well as proper disposal of fluids. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for HVAC technicians in 2015 was $45,110 per year, and the profession had a 14% job outlook growth through 2024, which is much faster than average.
