I’m crazy about what I do, it’s so much fun. I love taking care of my patients, I love building the rapport in the relationships with them, I love using my clinical judgment, it’s just the total package.
Compassion is essential to nursing. You have to have compassion for your patients or you’re not going to be very successful. Compassion is the drive and the reason why you keep going when the days are hard as a nurse.
The most influential people in my life was my mom. She passed away in 2016 and she is the reason I became a nurse; as well as my four children learning to provide for them and to being a good role model for them. I wanted to show them I could do it as a single mom and I could take care of them.
But my kids were so supportive. And it was funny because I would take tests and if I got really good grades they would like cheer for me and good job mom we’re so proud of you.
If someone was gonna tell a story about me, I would want them to include that I am a survivor, that I can overcome hard things and that I learned to take challenges and thrive from them.
