There is nothing more inspirational for a nurse than nursing videos that demonstrate a patient's improvement, camaraderie or genuine dedication toward others. The nursing profession is filled with moments of joy and moments of heartbreak. It is the joyous moments that keep a nurse going. Here are some of the most notable nursing videos on YouTube that have received many page views.

Man in Nursing Home Reacts to Hearing Music

The first of these nursing videos is a YouTube clip that shows Henry, an Alzheimer's patient, undergo an amazing transformation when he listens to music that had been a big part of his life when he was younger. This clip was taken from the documentary, Alive Inside. Social worker Dan Cohen, who plays a large role in this documentary, places music that was well-loved by elderly patients on an iPod playlist. Cohen states that, even though parts of the brain are taken from the dementia patient, long term memory for the music that the patient had been fond of long ago will often remain. He compares it to awakening that part of the brain from a deep sleep, which is both amazing and exciting to watch. It is also interesting to note that playing music when the patient is reluctant to cooperate during bath or meal time is tremendously helpful in completing the task. A nurse that is taking care of someone who is in this condition makes his or her heart very heavy, but watching a positive change in them, such as the one seen here, fills the nurse with renewed excitement and inspiration.

Brave at U of M Amplatz Children's Hospital

Two nurses at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital stated that they wanted to do something fun with the kids to lift their spirits. To do this, they decided that they would create a video. Little did they know that this video would become such a hit. With the help of 70 patients and staff members, they put together an inspirational recording done to the Sara Bareilles song, "Brave". When the nurses heard this song, they knew that it was perfect for the video they were going to create. They noted that the kids are so brave and strong, and they wanted everyone to know it.

Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Performs "Roar"

A New Hampshire hospital staff, as well as some parents, put together a video with the children to the tune of Katy Perry's "Roar." They decided that they wanted to do something special for the people who raised $650,000 in the CHaD HERO Half Marathon & Ripcord 5K this year. This is their "thank you" video to tell these individuals how much they are appreciated. This video has become even more than that, though. It is touching people's hearts and serving as an inspiration to all.
