A career in nursing can lead you down many roads with numerous employment options available upon completion of school. A nursing career is very challenging and requires a great deal of hard work and dedication. - Responsibility: As with any career, you are accountable for your own actions. The life of a nurse is no different. There is additional pressure on nurses, for they are are accountable for other peoples lives and the care associated with that patient is a major responsibility.
- Schedule: A nurse's schedule is can be chaotic. A nurse can work long hours or work per diem. You are able to choose how much or how little you want to work. A nurse may be in high demand to cover shifts for those who are not available. If you would like more work hours, they will likely be available to you.
- Course of study: Think about what type of nursing you would like to study. If you want to specialize in a particular area, find out which courses would be most helpful to you. Think about your long term goals and plan ahead for them. Do you want to earn an associate's degree, which involves going to school for only two years, or do you plan on earning your bachelor's degree with a four year program?
