When students enter their new Fortis College campus in Orange Park, Fla., they experience a series of transformative moments. It’s all about the new surroundings and enhanced learning environment.
In response to steady enrollment and the need for nursing simulation laboratory space, Fortis College has moved into a new facility.
The new campus is located at 700 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32065. Although slightly more than five miles and about 10 minutes from its former location, the campus offers a world of new educational opportunities and an engaging academic atmosphere.
At 24,750 square feet, the campus features nearly 7,000 square feet more space than the previous location.
Housed in a commercial complex, the new campus is a completely retrofitted building that provides students with a modern, fully equipped facility offering more classrooms with ceiling-mounted projectors, two new nursing simulation laboratories, a second Surgical Technology lab with simulated operating rooms (ORs), and dental lab, all of which are outfitted with industry-standard equipment – the same technology graduates likely will use on the job. Additionally, the facility provides more office and workspaces for administration, faculty and staff.
“Besides getting the extra space we need, the new campus brings us closer to where our students live. That’s an added bonus,” says Fortis College in Orange Park President Wyman Dickey. “We’ve created an environment that enables students to feel special – because they are – in a facility that’s designed to stimulate them so they become successful graduates with all the tools necessary to reach their full potential.”
The new campus offers all the programs previously available at Fortis College-Orange Park, and allows for expansion when the time is right. The college also provides career placement services, financial aid for qualified students, and continuing education courses in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).
Dickey believes the expansive new campus creates an environment that builds a bridge to success for students, enriches both the available technology and faculty teaching options, and reinforces “The Fortis Difference,” a measurable approach to providing students the highest quality education experience.
