Accounting is the language of business. Accountants record, organize, and analyze business information to provide management and owners with the necessary data to make informed decisions. The Accounting Technology program at Fortis is designed to prepare students for a career in the field of accounting in positions that require high levels of analysis, evaluation, problem solving and critical thinking.
Students in the accounting program at Fortis will learn to prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow. They will learn to utilize softward packages to prepare these financial statements and learn to analyze cost data to determine profit and breakeven points. In addition to learning the basics of Managerial and Financial Accounting, Fortis students will get a general education in marketing, economics, business management, mathematics, psychology and sociology including career development skills.
