The mission of the radiologic technology program is to educate competent, entry-level technologists to serve the public healthcare needs. We are committed to providing each student a high quality education through innovative and engaging instruction, and role modeling.

Program Goals and Student Learning Outcomes:

Goal # 1:  The program will prepare students to become multi-skilled radiologic technologists.

Outcomes:

  1. The student will produce radiographs of diagnostic quality.
    1. The student will demonstrate proper positioning skills.
    2. The student will demonstrate selection of optimal exposure factors.
    3. The student will demonstrate radiation safety principles.
    4. The student will demonstrate proper equipment operation.
  2. The student will demonstrate the ability to modify standard procedures to accommodate for patient condition, age, cultural diversity, and mental capacity.
  3. The student will demonstrate the ability to evaluate image quality and make appropriate corrections when necessary.
  4. The student will demonstrate proper CT scanning skills.
    1. The student will demonstrate proper scanning protocol selection.
    2. The student will demonstrate proper positioning skills.
    3. The student will demonstrate proper equipment operation, including contrast injector and accessory devices.

Goal # 2:  The program will provide the means for students to develop oral and written communication skills.
Outcomes:
 

  1. The student will demonstrate effective oral communication skills in the clinical setting.
  2. The student will demonstrate the ability to obtain and record pertinent patient history.
  3. The student will demonstrate the ability to write and present an informative research paper.


Goal #3: The program will provide the means for students to develop professionalism, and will encourage professional and personal growth.
Outcomes:

  1. The student will demonstrate understanding and commitment to values and ethics.
  2. The student will demonstrate compassionate patient care.
  3. The graduate will participate in professional and/or personal growth activities.


Goal #4: The program will provide our healthcare community with quality radiologic technologists.
Outcomes:

  1. Students who begin the program will graduate.
  2. Graduates will pass the ARRT exam on first attempt.
  3. The program will graduate quality radiologic technologists.
  4. Graduates will be employable.
  5. Graduates will indicate that the program prepared them to perform the duties of an entry-level radiologic technologist.
