Education After the Military

What do you want to do after military service?

Convenience and flexibility are two good reasons that military folks choose FORTIS College Online.  Whether you're active duty, retired, National Guard or a military spouse, you will find FORTIS has programs to fit your lifestyle and career goals.

We have a dedicated team in place to support our military students. From admissions to financial aid to Career Services, FORTIS understands your needs as a member of the military community.

Flexibility

  • Military students' lives can change pretty quickly. FORTIS understands this and is prepared to help you. If you've been taking an on-campus program and then get redeployed, the FORTIS programs allow flexibility to take time off or adjust.
  • Because we offer both online- and on-campus learning options, you have choices in how you start and complete your education.
  • Our admissions representatives understand the importance of your service and will work with you to identify areas where your experience can count towards your degree.
  • Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Our financial aid advisors will work with you, your family, and your CO or military liaison to put together the best package for your situation and goals.

Support

  • Three tiers of support for our military students: academic advisor, military advisor, and faculty.
  • Your military advisor is specially selected and dedicated to the situations faced by military students. Should you or a family member deploy, for instance, your military advisor can help you with postponing your studies or continuing them overseas, or provide you with information about transfer credits.
  • Your academic advisor is there to help you with any issue you might have related to your studies or life at Fortis. If you bring them a problem outside their expertise, they can help you identify the right place to go to get help.
  • Career Services understands the work experience of our military students and will work with you to identify opportunities that only you may be uniquely qualified to take advantage of.

The financial aid picture for military, ex-military, and military families is a little different—and sometimes more complex—than it is for non-military students. Financial Aid advisors at FORTIS are experienced with these situations and are available to assist you.

Always here for you.

  • Advisors on staff to give you all the information you need about your program's cost and options for financing your education
  • Financial aid offices on every campus so students can continue to find and act on important information they need to continue on their path to success
  • The flexibility you need from advisors, representatives, instructors, and staff, who can work with you if it becomes difficult to keep up your studies or if you need time off.

Enrolling at Fortis is simple, quick, and easy.

  • Talk to an admissions representative today, at your convenience. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff can help you select the right program and program options for you.
  • Once you've decided on your program, talk to a financial aid advisor about the available programs available to finance your education.
  • Ask your representative for details on our military-friendly tuition for FORTIS College Online.
  • Significant and various forms of VA (GI Bill) benefits are available to the extended military community. These can apply to members both while in the service and as veterans. Some of the earned benefits may also be available to member dependents.

At Fortis College Online, we recognize and reward the sacrifices our military members make. We also recognize the sacrifices made by these members' spouses. In return, we offer several benefits for military spouses to take advantage of when pursuing their education with us!

Fortis College Online is a participating federal financial aid school. Any awards received by military spouses can be combined with other military benefits listed below for the maximum amount of assistance.

For spouses of active-duty members, Active Guard Reserves, and reserve and guard members called to active duty, Fortis College Online offers a military scholarship program. This scholarship includes reduced tuition rates and waived graduation fees, and covers the cost of books, software and shipping costs. In addition, all military spouses qualify for no-cost transfer credit evaluation.

Fortis College Online is also a participant in the Military OneSource Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts program, or MyCAA. This program from the Department of Defense offers qualifying military spouses up to $4,000 in tuition benefits. MyCAA also offers employment readiness counseling and career services assistance.

Take advantage of an education from Fortis College Online and get your degree quickly and affordably! For more information on our military spouse benefits or MyCAA, fill out the form on this page or call us at 1-866-353-9919.

Coming to Fortis College really did change the way I look at life and being a successful person. A lot of people don’t think they can afford higher level education but when you put your mind to it and make the sacrifice – it will work in the end.

As a graduate RN here at Fortis College I must say, my journey has been a long one. I’ve been an LPN for four years and walking through the door I thought I had all the answers, and the only person that was going to take care of me was me. I had this assumption that the next fifteen months of my life was going to be easy, I was absolutely wrong.
