Aug. 20 Visit To Fortis Campus Includes Dental Hygiene Clinic & Nursing Simulation Lab Demonstrations

U.S. Representative Jim Matheson (D-Utah) has accepted an invitation to visit Fortis College, Salt Lake City, where he will tour the campus and hold an open forum with students, staff and dignitaries. Congressman Matheson’s visit will take place Monday, August 20, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
At Fortis College, Congressman Matheson will experience the school’s learning environment firsthand by observing nursing simulation lab and dental hygiene clinic demonstrations as part of his campus tour. While on campus, the congressman also will address students, staff and visiting dignitaries during an open forum.
“We are very pleased Congressman Matheson accepted the invitation to visit our campus and look forward to sharing our educational mission and goals with him,” said campus President Kendall Dean. “We are very proud of our campus, especially our trade and medical programs, the advanced nursing simulation program and dental hygiene clinic, which serves residents from our community as well as training future caregivers.”
Fortis College, Salt Lake City is an accredited post-secondary education institution that focuses on trades technology and allied health career paths, including a Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
The Fortis College dental hygiene clinic is a fully-functional dental facility, complete with 15 dental operatories, nine X-ray machines and a panoramic X-ray machine and laser. Dental hygiene instruction is provided by full- and part-time dentists and registered dental hygiene professionals, who provide exceptional hands-on procedures and training oversight.
Dental hygiene services are provided to the community at significantly reduced rates. Available services include dental hygiene exams, preventive dental cleanings, dental radiographs, panoramic radiographs, sealants, periodontal diagnosis and treatment, antimicrobial placement and teeth whitening. Patients of all ages are welcome.
