HILL TO DIRECT AND EXPAND CAMPUS PRACTICAL & ASSOCIATE NURSING PROGRAMS, AND ENHANCE BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS WITH NURSING CLINICAL PARTNERS Tuesday, November 22, 2011 3:59 PM

Fortis College, Tampa has tapped veteran nurse practitioner and educator JoAnna Hill, Ph.D., ARNP, RN, to head the campus’ nursing education curriculum. Named the new Director of Nursing, Hill will oversee and supervise student course work, facilitate development of new programs, and work with community clinical partners to expand campus relationships within the healthcare industry.

According to Hill, there is a very strong demand for nursing graduates throughout the Tampa Bay area. The Tampa campus typically graduates approximately 100 new nurses each year to help fill vacant nursing positions across the region.

“I am thrilled to be associated with the Tampa campus nursing program,” Hill says. “Fortis continuously explores options and opportunities for expanding its nursing outreach so our students are provided the finest nursing education available anywhere.”

A Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing, Hill served as a staff nurse and administrator for 15 years and has been in nursing education for 10 years. Hill joins Fortis College from Toney Healthcare Consultants, LLC in Tampa, where she was senior vice president for Clinical Programs, responsible for development and implementation of educational programming. She also served as an adjunct faculty instructor with South University, Online in Tampa, St. Joseph’s College of Maine and St. Petersburg College, among others. Hill’s nursing experience includes Morton Plant Mease Primary Care and North Pinellas Internal Medicine Associates, both in Palm Harbor, Fla., and Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Fla.

Among various professional affiliations, Hill is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, National League for Nursing and Florida Nurses Association. Certified in Family Practice by the American Nursing Credentialing Center, she is an American Association of Colleges of Nursing Leadership Fellow and is listed in Who’s Who among Executive and Professional Women in Nursing and Healthcare.

Hill is a reviewer for the Journal of Cultural Diversity, Board of Trustees Member for Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs, American Heart Association Pinellas Community Board Member (Largo, Fla.), and Founder/Director of the Orthodox Missionary Clinic at St. Panteleimon in Tarpon Springs among various aspects of community involvement.
