The Construction Management program at Fortis Institute Erie is designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position in building construction with an emphasis on construction management. The Fortis Construction Management program will cover such topics as safety OSHA regulations, framing, concrete construction, masonry, interior and exterior finishes, blueprint reading, math for the building trades, estimating, remodeling, site preparation and computer home design. Classes in business such as small business management, accounting, and technical writing will prepare Fortis students with the business skills necessary for success in construction management.
Building techniques and materials used in the building trade will be taught using theory and hands-on demonstrations. After completion of the building trades and business practices course at Fortis Institute Erie, students will have the knowledge to manage a jobsite, work as an estimator for materials and labor, layout buildings as a site foreman, and eventually, after a few years of job experience, run their own company.
Fortis Institute Erie was formerly known as Tri-State Business Institute and joined the network of Fortis Colleges and Institutes in 2011.
