Well, I guess you could say that I’ve always been very "prissy". I’ve always been in pageants, modeling, and all that kind of stuff. I’ve always loved getting my hair, makeup, and nails done. I’ve always done everyone else’s too. I’ve always wanted to do hair. When I was a little girl my Nanny was a Cosmetologist, so my daycare was a salon and I’ve always loved it. My most rewarding experience at Fortis was being given the opportunity to do what I’ve always dreamed of doing, meeting new people, and making lifelong friends. Set your goals high and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. It might be hard and you might want to give up, but Fortis is a great school with great people that will help you every step of the way. It will be worth it in the end.

I’ve been a Cosmetologist for some years but had let my license expire so I could no longer work in the field. I had a dead-end job, living pay check to pay check. I hated my job. I decided to go back to school, take the required additional hours of training, and get my license back. I love serving others and helping make a difference in someone’s life through improving their appearance. Cosmetology is a career that can also give you the ultimate in financial rewards. I’ve had the opportunity to meet the most wonderful Directors, Instructors, and Staff. I’ve worked alongside some of the most awesome students in Mobile.

Prior to Fortis, I was attending a local community college but was still unsure of what I was going to do with my future. I was doing hair on the side but never really thought about it as a career. Then I saw the Fortis College School of Cosmetology commercial on television and knew I had to check them out. I was able to work on real client’s hair, nails, and skin. It was so rewarding to see the appreciation on their face when I’d complete a service for them. At Fortis you will definitely acquire the knowledge and skills required to become a Licensed Cosmetologist.

I moved around a lot when I was little and didn’t do so well in grade school. I always enjoyed making people look nice though and it became who I was. I chose cosmetology when I was a freshman in high school. I love being creative and it was a new form of art that I loved. My training at Fortis was amazing and I grew up a lot over a year. You don’t realize how much you’ve learned until you catch yourself having a knowledgeable conversation about cosmetology with someone. Fortis is a good place with good people. If you’re looking for those two qualities like I was, Fortis will not let you down.

Fortis College Surgical Technology program opened many doors for me. The teachers are knowledgeable, and the faculty and staff are there to offer help and support. They offer top-notch training, help with resumes, and help with job placement. Not only did I learn the skills to make myself successful in the work place, but those skills led me to working at one of the nation’s top hospitals.

Fortis College came at just the right moment in my life. Having earned my BA from a major University I thought my formal education was behind me and I was not very thrilled with the work I had. I’d always thought about Massage Therapy as a career but pushing 40 I figured I was too old. Long story short, I graduated two weeks before my 40th birthday, and the future has never looked brighter. Fortis College’s high standards and strong academic foundation have made all the difference not only to me as a therapist, but to my clients as well. And the best part is: I LOVE what I do. Fortis proved to me that life really is what you make it, so make it something special. Fortis can help.
